Hot Chocolate Day Pictures

Great news from our fabulous parent reps - our Hot Chocolate Fundraiser made $502.50 (less $96 costs) towards Bear Cottage and our gift to the school.

Well done Year 6 and thank you so much to our wonderful parents, without whom none of this would have happened.

Bravo to you all!

What a Week!

This week we had the Athletics Carnival on Monday, Lion King rehearsals at Dee Why Tuesday and Wednesday, the Hot Chocolate Fundraiser on Friday and several groups of students were also out for a Touch Footy Gala Day and the Da Vinci Decathlon.  Phew!  I can't believe we made it through!

Throughout these events our students have demonstrated exemplary behaviour and the respect they have shown to teachers and other adults supporting them in these endeavours has been inspiring.  I am very proud of the class for how they are putting into action the qualities of leadership that we have discussed since the start of the year.  Well done Year 6!

We have actually managed to continue with our curricular learning this week as well.  In Writing, we are focusing on persuasive texts and have been deconstructing how advertisements use strategies such as logos, colour, use of images, slogans and catchphrases to convince their audience to purchase their product.  This week we looked at how important it is to identify your target audience.  Students worked in groups to create an advertisement for cereal, with the target market being space aliens.  They were also given some market research on the likes and dislikes of space aliens and had to use that to construct their advertisements.  The students really enjoyed creating and critiquing their advertisements.

Next week will be another week of exciting learning as we perform 'The Lion King Jnr'.  Please ensure you read the note stuck into your diaries and remember to bring all the necessary items on Monday for the week to come.  PLEASE NOTE:  There are no lunch orders available and no canteen purchases can be made on Monday or Tuesday.  Canteen is available as usual on Wednesday through Friday.

Have a lovely weekend.
