Cyber Safety Seminar - an excellent opportunity for parents.

All Bayview Campus parents of Year 5 and 6 students are invited to attend a Seminar by Leonie Smith on raising responsible digital citizens.  It is an excellent presentation and highly relevant for ensuring you are aware of the digital issues facing our tweens and teens.  Please do come along, it is well worth it.  Flyer below...

What's On In Term 3

What Are You Teaching The World?

Today as we started a new term, we watched this video "pep talk" from Kid President.  Halfway through this video Kid President asks a question.  What are you teaching the world?  We are all teachers and we are all students.  People are watching and learning from you all the time.  What do you want your legacy to be?  How do you want to change the world with what you 'teach' in your everyday interactions, choices and behaviours?

This was the question that I asked students to consider.  Please do watch the video and ask your child to show you the discussion thread on Canvas - their responses were both inspiring and encouraging.

Welcome to Term 3

Welcome back to class for this term.  It is going to be another busy term full of learning.  A few reminders about events happening this Term.

This week we will be focusing on finishing our Novel Study on Wonder in English, and brushing up on our government learning in HSIE to prepare for our trip to Canberra in Week 2.  That trip is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week.

Week 3 Tuesday is the Cake Stall - don't forget that this stall is the one that you are creating a baked delight for, in line with your Graduation Diploma meals requirement.  Friday Week 3 is the 3-6 Disco that is being held over at Dee Why.

Week 4 Tuesday there is the ICAS Maths paper for those students participating, and an Author visit from Ruben Meerman.  Wednesday of that week is the IPSHA Music Festival all day for those students involved.

Week 5 is Book Week and on the Thursday there is a special Mathematics Workshop for your parents in the evening.

Week 6 Wednesday brings another amazing Author visit - Martin Chatterton.  Friday of Week 6 is Jersey Day, where the entire school can wear a footbal jersey for the day to raise money for the Donate Life network.

Week 9 Thursday we have our Hot Chocolate fundraiser to prepare for as well.

This term Mrs Dado will be taking the students for Art, as Mrs Browne has her Long Service Leave, and there is a new face in the office, Mrs Lane, who will be taking over for Mrs Vallendar as she also enjoys her Long Service Leave.  This term our Music lessons have moved to Thursday just before Sport, this is just FYI.

This term is also where you need to get the bulk of your work on your Graduation Diploma Major Project done.  It is again built into the Home Learning Grids to assist you in organising your time.  As always, I am available to talk through any questions or problems you may have with regard to your Graduation Diploma.

It is certainly going to be a term full of fun and learning.
